{"id":95012,"date":"2024-09-25T06:00:28","date_gmt":"2024-09-25T04:00:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thediplomatinspain.com\/?p=95012"},"modified":"2024-09-23T23:32:56","modified_gmt":"2024-09-23T21:32:56","slug":"exposicion-de-arte-moderno-de-mexico-de-la-coleccion-blaisten","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thediplomatinspain.com\/en\/2024\/09\/25\/exposicion-de-arte-moderno-de-mexico-de-la-coleccion-blaisten\/","title":{"rendered":"Exhibition of Modern Art of Mexico from the Blaisten Collection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From next Thursday, September 26 to February 16, 2025, the<strong> Fundaci\u00f3n Casa de M\u00e9xico<\/strong> presents the exhibition <strong><em>Modern Art of Mexico,<\/em><\/strong> from the <strong>Blaisten<\/strong> collection, one of the most important private collections of modern art in Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Curated by <strong>Daniel Garza Usabiaga,<\/strong> it presents an innovative reading of this collection through the ideas of <strong>Margarita Nelken,<\/strong> a Spanish intellectual exiled in Mexico who enriched cultural debate and complicated discussions about art in the country. In the reading of Garza Usabiaga, Nelken\u2019s vision on the evolution of modern Mexican art is appreciated, his criticism of the institutionalization of certain styles and his support for artistic diversity, to links with historical and local references.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Arte Moderno de M\u00e9xico presents a selection of 64 works from the collection in painting and sculpture by some of the most important modern artists in the country: Diego Rivera, Mar\u00eda Izquierdo, Dr. Atl, Alfaro Siqueiros, Rufino Tamayo, Jos\u00e9 Clemente Orozco, Saturnino Herr\u00e1n, Jos\u00e9 Guadalupe Posada, among others. The exhibition shows eleven works of heritage character, some of them: <em>Allegory of Mexico, <\/em>by Jos\u00e9 Clemente Orozco; <em>Alacena,<\/em> by Mar\u00eda Izquierdo; <em>La noche de los r\u00e1banos,<\/em> by Diego Rivera; <em>Retrato de Nora Beteta,<\/em> by David Alfaro Siqueiros; <em>Joven con calabaza, <\/em>by Saturnino Herr\u00e1n, and <em>View of the Popocat\u00e9petl,<\/em> by Dr. Atl.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The point of union between the author and the collector is the study and interest in artistic practices that took place outside muralism during the first half of the twentieth century. This exhibition therefore covers the development of modern art in Mexico from the 1940s until Nelken\u2019s death in 1968.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From
