\nThe People\u2019s Party is going to send a parliamentary observation delegation to the Venezuelan presidential elections on July 28, at the invitation of Edmundo Gonz\u00e1lez Urrutia, candidate of the main opposition coalition, Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD), and the opposition leader Mar\u00eda Corina Machado.
\n\u201cWe have been invited by Edmundo Gonz\u00e1lez, presidential candidate of the democratic opposition, and by Mar\u00eda Corina Machado, leader of the democratic opposition, so that a delegation from the People\u2019s Party of Spain will be present next Sunday, July 28, in the presidential elections,\u201d announced yesterday the PP spokesperson in Congress, Miguel Tellado, during the event 'Spain before the different electoral processes in Latin America', organized by the Parliamentary Group and the Reformismo21 Foundation in the Congress of Deputies.
\nThe delegation will be made up of himself, the general secretary of the Parliamentary Group, Macarena Montesinos; the deputy spokesperson, Cayetana \u00c1lvarez de Toledo, and the PP spokesperson for Ibero-America in the Foreign Affairs Commission of Congress, Bel\u00e9n Hoyo.
\n\u201cWe will be there to show our support and all our support (\u2026), carefully observing the course of the elections together with the rest of the international community and unequivocally denouncing any infraction, any authoritarian movement,\u201d he continued, in the presence of the former president of the National Assembly of Venezuela (2016-2020) Dinorah Figuera and the former mayor of Caracas Antonio Ledezma.
\nThe Venezuelan elections represent a \u201cdefinitive opportunity\u201d to \u201cbury a too long period,\u201d but \u201cChavismo is doing everything in its power to stop the inevitable,\u201d he warned. \u201cWe want to encourage the leaders of the democratic movement to persevere in the defense of their great cause, which is also our cause, and we want to tell Chavismo that it has to respect the result of elections that must be free and democratic,\u201d he added.
\nOne of the participants in the delegation, \u00c1lvarez de Toledo, accused the Government of Pedro S\u00e1nchez of not having been \u201cup to the task\u201d in Venezuela and of having managed the humanitarian crisis in this country with \u201ca mixture of apathy and a serious point of hypocrisy\u201d, because \u201cthey are not lifting a finger in defense of democracy and the transition in Venezuela.\u201d
\nLikewise, she denounced the \u201cunacceptable complicity\u201d of former president Jos\u00e9 Luis Rodr\u00edguez Zapatero with Nicol\u00e1s Maduro and accused the Executive of being \u201ctough with dead dictators,\u201d in reference to Franco, but \u201csoft with living dictators.\u201d
\nIn addition to the PP, the Venezuelan opposition has invited parliamentarians, parties and former presidents from Europe and Latin America to act as observers in the elections, after the Venezuelan Government revoked the presence of the EU Electoral Observation Mission (EOM).
