{"id":87018,"date":"2024-06-26T06:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-06-26T04:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thediplomatinspain.com\/?p=87018"},"modified":"2024-06-26T07:17:48","modified_gmt":"2024-06-26T05:17:48","slug":"puccini-madama-butterfly-y-el-japonismo-entre-los-siglos-xix-y-xx","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thediplomatinspain.com\/en\/2024\/06\/26\/puccini-madama-butterfly-y-el-japonismo-entre-los-siglos-xix-y-xx\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Puccini, Madama Butterfly and Japanism between the 19th and 20th centuries&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As part of the parallel activities organised in collaboration with the <strong>Teatro Real<\/strong> in Madrid and the cycle of meetings <em>Italia all&#8217;opera,<\/em> the <strong>Instituto Italiano de Cultura<\/strong> in Madrid will host on 2 July at 6 p.m. a meeting dedicated to <strong><em>Puccini, Madama Butterfly and Japanism between the 19th and 20th centuries,<\/em><\/strong> with two exceptional guests: <strong>Paolo Bolpagni,<\/strong> director of the Fundaci\u00f3n Ragghianti, and Maestro <strong>Nicola Luisotti.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In dialogue with the director of the Institute, <strong>Marialuisa Pappalardo,<\/strong> Bolpagni and Luisotti will talk about Puccini&#8217;s extraordinary ability to recreate historical and geographical atmospheres, to trace in detail the settings of his operas, in his visual apparatus and in the psychology of the characters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While <em>Tosca<\/em> expresses the spirit of papal Rome shaken by the Napoleonic upheavals, <em>Madama Butterfly<\/em> represents a certain Japanese mentality, artistically transfigured in the search for authenticity. At the same time, Orientalism in the plastic arts and music of the late 19th and early 20th centuries will be analysed, focusing on painting and sculpture, and for artists who were in personal contact with Puccini, such as <strong>Luigi Rossi, Roberto Fontana, Luigi De Servi <\/strong>and<strong> Galileo Chini.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Free admission until full capacity is reached.
