The Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday released to the media the messages sent by several international leftist leaders through the social network X to express his support for the President of the Government, Pedro S\u00e1nchez, after his decision to cancel his public agenda for a few days to \u201creflect\u201d on whether or not he continues to lead the Executive following the investigations into his wife, Bego\u00f1a G\u00f3mez.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cToday I spoke with the Spanish president to express my solidarity with his leadership and role for a democratic and increasingly fair, prosperous and humane Spain,\u201d declared the president of Brazil, Luiz In\u00e1cio Lula da Silva<\/strong>, in one of those messages. \u201cHis strength and his role are important for his country, for Europe and for the world,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe \u2018mud machine\u2019 driven by the Spanish extreme right has sought to destroy Pedro S\u00e1nchez\u2019s family to stop progressive policies,\u201d wrote Colombian President Gustavo Petro<\/strong>. \u201cThe policy of the right is to destroy people,\u201d he continued. \u201cMy solidarity with the president of Spain and his family,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Petro affirms in his message that the \u201cmud machine\u201d does \u201cthe same task with the first progressive government\u201d in Colombia, \u201conly here, in addition, it murders.\u201d \u201cThat machine, well oiled with lies, hatred and money, stops with popular mobilization, with those who want Colombia to advance,\u201d he adds.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

For his part, the Luxembourger Nicolas Schmit, who leads the candidacy of the European Socialist Party (PES) in the European elections next June<\/strong>, writes a brief message: \u201cPedro has been the victim of vile attacks from the far-right for a long time. I stand with Bego\u00f1a, Pedro and their whole family.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Schmit’s message appears linked to another from the PSE itself: “We condemn the latest far-right attacks in Spain, which are using spurious claims to harass Bego\u00f1a G\u00f3mez, her husband, Prime Minister Pedro S\u00e1nchez and their family”. It also includes a message from the president of the party, Stefan L\u00f6fven: “From what can be understood from this alarming context, the natural reaction can only be to support Bego\u00f1a, Pedro and his family in the face of these malicious attacks.” \u201cThe far right is using judicial proceedings as a weapon to attack the integrity of politics and tear the fabric of democracy,\u201d he adds.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Likewise, in another message broadcast by Foreign Affairs, the Prime Minister of Albania and president of his country’s Socialist Party (whose logo is an exact reproduction of the hand and rose of the PSOE), Edi Rama,<\/strong> writes to S\u00e1nchez: \u201cIt has everything our support in these times where resilience is needed more than ever against liars, defamers and manipulators of facts from the margins of the political sphere and the instruments of their propaganda.\u201d \u201cFor Spain, for Europe and for all of us, never give up, never doubt that the truth will prevail, my dear friend,\u201d he concludes.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This past Thursday, S\u00e1nchez received the support of Luis Arce, president of Bolivia, who expressed his solidarity with the President of the Government, denounced the \u201cpolitical and media lynching\u201d of which he is the object and encouraged people to combat the \u201canti-politics\u201d of those who \u201cundermine democracy with lies.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Chief Minister of Gibraltar, Fabian Picardo, also expressed his solidarity with S\u00e1nchez. And he stated: \u201cPolitics is a contest of ideas, not a litany of insults, abuse and attacks against the family.\u201d In his X account, he added a statement from the Gibraltarian Government, in which he expressly encourages S\u00e1nchez to \u201ccontinue and fight against the policy of personal vilification that the right has appropriated.\u201d<\/p>\n
