The official commemorations of the 50th anniversary of 25 April 1974 <\/em><\/strong>(when the Carnation Revolution took place) have as their central event the show L\u00e1 no Xepangara – A Cultura Africana em Jos\u00e9 Afonso<\/em><\/strong>. L\u00e1 no Xepangara<\/em> is the title of one of the songs from Coro dos Tribunais, an<\/em> album released in December 1974. It celebrates the decisive role of art and culture in the Portuguese revolution. At the Museo del Traje<\/strong> de Madrid<\/strong> (Av. Juan de Herrera, 2), Thursday 25 April at 7 p.m. Free admission.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n In Barcelona,<\/strong> the anniversary will be celebrated with the colloquium 50 years of Democracy,<\/em><\/strong> at the Ateneu Barcelon\u00e8s ( <\/strong>Carrer de la Canuda, 6), with the writer Gabriel Magalh\u00e3es<\/strong> and a musical show with songs by Zeca Afonso<\/strong>. There will also be a virtual exhibition of posters from 25 April. In the Sala Oriel Bohigas, at 18.30.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n At the Cam\u00f5es Institute<\/strong> in Vigo<\/strong> (Casa Arines Pra\u00e7a Tenente, Praza de Almeida, s\/n), the exhibition 50 years of April – Poetry and Politics<\/em><\/strong> opens ,<\/em><\/strong> with original political posters of the first elections held after 25 April and a brief documentation of the main political parties. In addition, this Institute is hosting three film sessions on 25 April and the Democratic Transitions<\/em><\/strong> throughout the month of April until 30 April. Admission is free.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n On 12 April, the Portuguese Embassy<\/strong> and the Community of Madrid<\/strong> inaugurated the exhibition Mutations:<\/em><\/strong> Conexiones excepcionales<\/em><\/strong>, featuring six Portuguese and Spanish artists. Curated by S\u00e9rgio Fazenda Rodrigues and Virginia Torrente.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n On 23 April, the Portuguese Embassy will join the Porto Pianofest,<\/em><\/strong> which will take place at the Teatro Real <\/strong>in Madrid, the theme of which will be the celebration of the 50th anniversary of 25 April with music alluding to the date. Among others, Mariel Mayz<\/strong> ‘s piano arrangements of Gr\u00e2ndola Vila Morena<\/em> and other iconic songs of the revolution will be performed. With Nuno Marques <\/strong>and Mariel Mayz,<\/strong> and the special participation of pianist Luis Fernando P\u00e9rez<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Also, between 24 April and 3 May, the Filmoteca de Galicia<\/strong> presents the cycle 50 a\u00f1os del 25 de abril,<\/em><\/strong> with documentaries filmed in the period after the Revolution.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Conc\u00e9ntrico,<\/strong> the International Architecture and Design Festival of Logro\u00f1o<\/strong> opens its 10th edition on 25 April and presents the winning projects of the competitions La calle a 10 a\u00f1os<\/em> and Celebrar la ciudad,<\/em> in collaboration with the Academia de Oporto and ArtWorks.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Filmoteca Espa\u00f1ola<\/strong> will inaugurate a cycle dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution on 25 April, entitled The Carnation Constellation: Revolutionary Imaginaries in Portugal,<\/em><\/strong> which will continue throughout the month of May. The opening will be attended by filmmaker Jos\u00e9 Filipe Costa, <\/strong>who will present the film Prazer, Camaradas!<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Cineteca de Madrid<\/strong> joins Matadero Madrid’ <\/strong>s Dance Day <\/strong>celebrations with a programme that includes Fogo-F\u00e1tuo,<\/em><\/strong> by Jo\u00e3o Pedro Rodrigues,<\/strong> to be screened on 25 May at 19:00.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The production company Z\u00e1lez Artist Collect<\/strong> presents a tribute to Zeca Afonso<\/strong> at the Marcelino Camacho Auditorium<\/strong> in Madrid, with the fado singer Laureana<\/strong> and the artists Luis Mendo <\/strong>and Bernardo Fuster<\/strong>.
