Until 21 April, the Sala Canal de Isabel II<\/b> presents Al final de la escapada<\/i><\/b>, a journey through the five decades behind the camera of the photographer Jordi Soc\u00edas<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Curated by Luc\u00eda La\u00edn,<\/b> this exhibition represents a selection of works from the mid-1970s to the present day, some of them unpublished to date, tracing the life and professional trajectory of the renowned photographer from Barcelona.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Born in Barcelona in 1945 and self-taught, Soc\u00edas has been an exceptional witness to the turn of the century, as well as the founder of the COVER Agency – which, inspired by Magnum, brought a new vision to Spanish photojournalism – and editor of important publications such as Cambio 16, Madrid me mata, El Europeo, Cineman\u00eda <\/i>and El Pa\u00eds Semanal<\/i>. Great personalities of our time have passed through his lens, such as Jorge Luis Borges (1980), Paloma Picasso (1988), Francis Ford Coppola (1998) and Ai Weiwei (2021).<\/p>\n

The exhibition is a journey through the multiplicity of decisive moments that the photographer has captured throughout his life: from the portrait of Dal\u00ed that catapulted his career in 1979, to his travels around the world that reveal scenarios where the characters inhabit as in a great mise-en-sc\u00e8ne. The visitor participates in the photographer’s long-distance race, absorbing every moment, anticipating the emotion with his camera.<\/p>\n

Structured on four floors, the visitor will find a wide selection of magazine and book covers and interiors where Soc\u00edas’s mark is present as a photographer and editor. On the first floor are Jordi Soc\u00edas’s early works, such as the photograph of the outskirts of Barcelona in which the letters of the Lumiere Cinema emerge (1975), with which he himself considers his career began, or the portrait of Salvador Dal\u00ed (1979), as well as other images that confirm him as an exceptional witness to the turn of the century and decisive moments in the history of Spain.<\/p>\n
