From 14 to 17 March at Cineteca Madrid <\/b>(Plaza de Legazpi, 8), the 9th Muestra de Cine Franc\u00f3fono de Madrid<\/i><\/b> invites you to share other points of view and to see the role of cinema as a powerful driving force for life, memory, critical intelligence and solidarity.<\/p>\n

11 titles from three continents make up this year’s programme, films of different genres (documentaries, intimate dramas, dramatic comedies and animation) representative of the richness of Francophone cinema from three continents: Europe, Africa and America.<\/p>\n

Directors from different generations, from Quebec-Canada, Belgium, Switzerland, France, Luxembourg, Romania, Lebanon, Senegal and Tunisia, bring viewers closer to the memory of immigration and hospitality, to the memory and history of the Palestinians, to the struggle of the Lebanese people against incessant misfortune, and to the courage of Tunisian women. Other films call on music to fight against inequality and for the future of young people, on love and dignity as an aspiration for human beings.<\/p>\n

The French-speaking Canadian province of Quebec, the festival’s guest of honour, will open the festival with the national preview of the film Ru, an <\/i><\/b>adaptation of the eponymous novel by the renowned Canadian writer Kim Th\u00fay,<\/b> who will be present to discuss the genesis of the project.<\/p>\n

The Embassies of Canada, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Tunisia, Senegal, Lebanon, Monaco <\/b>and Andorra,<\/b> together with the Instituto Cultural Rumano <\/b>and the Instituto Franc\u00e9s, <\/b>among other institutions, have collaborated in the organisation of this festival.<\/p>\n
