The Diplomat<\/strong><\/h6>\n

The President of the Government, Pedro S\u00e1nchez, committed yesterday to bringing the recognition of the Palestinian State to the Cortes Generales in this legislature.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

S\u00e1nchez made this statement during an event held in Bilbao under the title ‘Rights, Democracy, Freedom. 20 years since Jos\u00e9 Luis Rodr\u00edguez Zapatero’s first electoral victory, in which he indicated that the \u201clegacy\u201d of the former President of the Government is \u201cthe same\u201d that the Government currently defends in Ukraine and Gaza.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

After demanding that humanitarian aid reach Gaza, the head of the Executive announced that in the current legislature he will propose to Parliament “the recognition of the Palestinian State.” “We will do it,” he said, “for a just cause and because it is the only way that two states can live and coexist in peace and security.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

S\u00e1nchez has already expressed on several occasions, after the outbreak of the conflict between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, his opinion that it is necessary to recognize the Palestinian State to achieve a solution to the crisis in the region.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Sumar demands measures<\/strong><\/h6>\n

Meanwhile, Sumar yesterday expressed his desire for the Government to detail what measures it will take in response to Israel’s decision to ignore the request of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which last January ordered Benjamin Netanyahu’s Executive to act to prevent “death, destruction and acts of genocide” in Gaza.<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This is the objective of the initiative registered in Congress by Sumar’s deputy spokesperson and IU leader, Enrique Santiago, and by M\u00e1s Madrid deputy Tesh Sidi<\/strong>, to which Europa Press<\/em> had access.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The two members of Sumar, a party that governs in coalition with the PSOE, remember that Spain is part of the Geneva Convention and the Convention for the Prevention of Genocide and that it is “linked to the ruling of the International Court of Justice on the wall.” that Israel has built in parts of the occupied West Bank to the Common Position on arms trade and the International Arms Trade Treaty.<\/p>\n

For this reason, they consider that the Government should not remain impassive and must respond in view of the fact that Israel has not put an end to the “invasion in Gaza”, has continued with the bombings and continues to destroy civilian infrastructure, including hospitals.<\/p>\n

“The Israeli Government has completely ignored the ruling of the International Court of Justice,” they denounce, calling on the Government to specify how it intends to respond to this situation.<\/p>\n

The leaders of Sumar have on several occasions demanded greater firmness from the Government against Israel due to the actions of this country’s Army in the Gaza Strip.
