The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jos\u00e9 Manuel Albares, announced yesterday to the commissioner general of the UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, that Spain will make a new contribution of twenty million euros for the work of this organization in food, educational and health matters, an amount that will join the 3.5 million approved by the last Council of Ministers and that, he assured, will be in the agency’s bank account “in the coming days.”<\/strong><\/h4>\n

In the current context of the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip, \u201cthe work of UNRWA is even more irreplaceable,\u201d the minister warned during the press conference after his meeting with Lazzarini, which took place at the ministerial headquarters of the Palace. of Viana in Madrid.<\/strong> \u201cUNRWA assists almost six million Palestinian refugees from Gaza, the West Bank, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria\u201d and, in the current humanitarian crisis in Gaza, its work is, \u201cto a large extent, a matter literally of life and death for the most of two million people who live there,\u201d he warned. \u201cWe cannot allow UNRWA to stop providing aid,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
