The Fundaci\u00f3n<\/strong> Scherzo <\/strong>presents once again the pianist Grigory Sokolov <\/em><\/strong>, known as the “Titan of the piano”, in its Great Performers<\/em> series this evening at 19.30 in the Symphonic Hall of the Auditorio Nacional de M\u00fasica<\/strong> in Madrid.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

With Sokolov’s programmes being a mystery until weeks before the start of the tour, in this 2024 tour, the Russian performer, recently naturalised Spanish, will dazzle concert-goers with works by Johann Sebastian Bach, F\u00e9dr\u00e9dic Chopin and Robert Schumann.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

With the always sinuous and hypnotic Vier Duette, BWV 802-805<\/em> and the melancholic and pathetic Partita II in C minor, BWV 826,<\/em> by the German musician, Sokolov presents a more reflective and transcendental first part. The second part of the concert will be devoted to the more romantic wing of the music lover’s sentiments. The Four Mazurkas op. 30 <\/em>and the Three Mazurkas op. 50, <\/em>by F. Chopin give the bel canto<\/em> made piano, with that swaying so typical of the Polish dance.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

To conclude, Sokolov will surprise us with a work that is prophetic to say the least: the “Waldszenen” (“Forest Scenes”), Op. 82,<\/em> by Robert Schumann, the last great piano cycle composed by this composer, which reflects a more evocative and pensive universe.
