The President of the Government, Pedro S\u00e1nchez, received yesterday in La Moncloa the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, before whom he highlighted the progress made by his country during the recent Spanish Presidency of the Council of the EU in its accession process to the European Union.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the meeting, the President of the Government assured that Albania has the potential to be \u201cat the forefront\u201d of the enlargement process and become a model for the other candidate countries. \u201cLet me congratulate you on the progress your country has made in the last year on its path towards the EU,\u201d he declared.<\/p>\n

Likewise, Pedro S\u00e1nchez reaffirmed Spain’s commitment to the enlargement of the EU to the Western Balkans, as made clear at the informal meeting of the European Council held in Granada last October.<\/p>\n

Pedro S\u00e1nchez and Edi Rama also talked about the development of the tourism sector in Albania, the reason for the Albanian Prime Minister’s visit to Spain within the framework of Fitur 2024. Specifically, the two leaders addressed the investment opportunities that Albania offers as an important tourist destination. and the increase in arrivals of Spanish tourists to the country.
