The play Carmen Nada de nadie,<\/em><\/strong> the fascinating life of Carmen D\u00edez de Rivera,<\/strong> “muse of the Spanish Transition”, starring M\u00f3nica L\u00f3pez, Oriol Tarras\u00f3n, Ana Fern\u00e1ndez <\/strong>and V\u00edctor Massan, <\/strong>will be at the Teatro Espa\u00f1ol<\/strong> (Plaza Santa Ana, C. del Pr\u00edncipe, 25) until 18 February.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The play traces the main milestones in the life of the woman who was chief of staff to former president Adolfo Su\u00e1rez and MEP, a feminist and risk-taking free woman.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n During the government of Adolfo Su\u00e1rez she held a post that no woman had ever held before, head of the Cabinet of the Presidency of the Government. She was elected MEP in the late 1980s and died in 1999 at the age of 57.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Free, feminist, independent and daring, Carmen D\u00edez de Rivera was a brave woman of aristocratic origins who knew how to build and direct her own life, above her personal and social circumstances, which brought her loneliness and incomprehension.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n On stage, the character recounts the high points of an intense and challenging political career, mainly the period he worked in Su\u00e1rez’s government, while recalling the intimate episodes that marked his unhappiness and his character. Her father was Ram\u00f3n Serrano Su\u00f1er, Franco’s brother-in-law and minister in the dictator’s first governments. Serrano had an extramarital affair with D\u00edez de Rivera’s mother, Sonsoles de Icaza y de Le\u00f3n, from which D\u00edez de Rivera was born. When she was about to marry her fianc\u00e9, she was told that he was Serrano Su\u00f1er’s son and, therefore, her brother.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
