{"id":82022,"date":"2024-01-15T05:03:04","date_gmt":"2024-01-15T04:03:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/zen-hopper.82-223-81-17.plesk.page\/2024\/01\/15\/cni-agreement-with-the-philippines-on-classified-defense-information-enters-into-force\/"},"modified":"2024-01-15T05:03:04","modified_gmt":"2024-01-15T04:03:04","slug":"cni-agreement-with-the-philippines-on-classified-defense-information-enters-into-force","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thediplomatinspain.com\/en\/2024\/01\/15\/cni-agreement-with-the-philippines-on-classified-defense-information-enters-into-force\/","title":{"rendered":"CNI agreement with the Philippines on classified defense information enters into force"},"content":{"rendered":"<h6><strong>Eduardo Gonz\u00e1lez<\/strong><\/h6>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>On December 18, the agreement between the National Intelligence Center (CNI) of Spain and the Department of National Defense of the Philippines on the protection of classified information in the field of defense came into force.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The agreement was signed in Madrid on November 4, 2021<\/strong> by the then director of the CNI, Paz Esteban L\u00f3pez, and the then Secretary (Minister) of Defense of the Philippines, Delf\u00edn Negrillo Lorenzana, during his official visit to Spain in which He was received by his Spanish counterpart, Margarita Robles.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During that meeting, and as <strong>\u201cthe first measure to strengthen Spanish-Philippine bilateral cooperation,\u201d<\/strong> the two Governments signed an Agreement for the Mutual Protection of Classified Information \u201cthat will facilitate the development, among others, of industrial relations,\u201d according to the Ministry. of Defense that same day.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The agreement, whose objective is to regulate the exchange of classified information between the two countries in accordance with their respective national laws and regulations, develops the <strong>General Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the Kingdom of Spain and the Republic of the Philippines<\/strong>, signed in Manila on December 30. June 2000. The agreement came into force on December 18 and was published this past Friday by the Official State Gazette
