The temporary exhibition hall (ground floor) of the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza<\/strong> presents until 4 February the exhibition Maestras.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Artemisia Gentileschi, Angelica Kauffmann, Clara Peeters, Rosa Bonheur, Mary Cassatt, Berthe Morisot, Mar\u00eda Blanchard, Natalia Goncharova, Sonia Delaunay <\/strong>and Maruja Mallo<\/strong> were famous artists of their time who are now once again recognised as masters, in response to the erasure from art history they suffered alongside others who broke the mould with works of unquestionable excellence.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n With almost a hundred pieces, including paintings, sculptures, works on paper and textiles, this exhibition, curated by Roc\u00edo de la Villa<\/strong> from a feminist perspective, presents a journey from the end of the 16th century to the first decades of the 20th century, through eight relevant scenes in the path of women towards their emancipation. Based on the current notion of sisterhood, it focuses on groups of artists, patrons and gallery owners who shared values and favourable socio-cultural and theoretical conditions, despite the patriarchal system.
