Today, Sunday, the activities scheduled to celebrate Italian Cuisine Week in Spain,<\/strong> which is taking place in 14 Spanish cities (Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, Cordoba, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Granada, Lanzarote, Salamanca, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Seville, Valencia, Vigo and Vitoria)… and which is also being replicated in other parts of the world, come to an end.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The main objective is to promote the candidacy of Italian cuisine for UNESCO<\/strong> intangible heritage status, as well as to bring knowledge of its origins and qualities to other countries and its flavours to the general public. To this end, many restaurants, food shops and gastrobars are offering special menus for the occasion this weekend in Madrid, Barcelona and Tenerife under the umbrella of Sabor a Italia.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In addition, more activities are being carried out in three areas: gastronomic-cultural, social and sporting, <\/strong>highlighting the solidarity initiative at the San Jos\u00e9 de Vallecas <\/strong>soup kitchen run by the former Spanish F1 driver Emilio de Villota,<\/strong> thanks to which the users of this centre will enjoy the fine cuisine of several chefs attached to the Italian Federation of Chefs in Spain.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Another of the pillars of this week is the support for the training of young students through collaboration with hotel and catering schools and the weaving of relations between centres of excellence in both countries. On this occasion, the Italian ambassador, Giuseppe Buccino Grimaldi,<\/strong> and the director of IES Hotel Escuela de la Comunidad de Madrid, Miguel \u00c1ngel P\u00e9rez P\u00e9rez,<\/strong> hosted a lunch last Thursday where 40 students from the centre were in charge of preparing and serving an Italian menu under the supervision of Michelin-starred chef Giuseppe Tinari.<\/strong><\/p>\n
