The number of Spanish university students in the United States broke a record in the 2022-2023 academic year, reaching 8,548 students, according to data from the ‘Open Doors’ Annual Report.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n
The report was published last Monday, the 13th, by the US Department of State in collaboration with the Institute for International Education (IIE) during International Education Week<\/strong>, which runs until the 17th.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
The North American country was the favorite destination for international students, exceeding one million, which certifies the recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic, which represented a setback in the arrival of foreign university students to the US.<\/p>\n

According to the US Embassy in Madrid<\/strong>, among the reasons that young people value for studying in the United States is the wide academic offering with subjects and courses that are only available there<\/strong>. Other extra motivations are the improvement of English and fluency in the language and sports scholarships to pursue full-time studies while competing for their university.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
The ‘Community Collage’ offers the possibility of carrying out higher vocational training studies of between 2 and 4 years. They are the previous step to entering university studies and it is another aspect that the study highlights as the reason that drives young people to study. In U.S.A.<\/p>\n

Regarding the number of American students who arrived in Spain during the 2021-2022 academic year, ‘Open Doors’ indicates that it reached 188,753<\/strong> and placed our country among the three preferred by US university students, behind Italy and the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
After the presentation of the study, the US ambassador to Spain, Julissa Reynoso<\/strong>, stated that the positive student mobility figures between the two countries are another reflection that bilateral relations “are stronger than ever.”<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
Reynoso stated that strengthening the educational collaboration of both countries allows them to jointly “address today’s pressing challenges, such as climate change, drought and ocean degradation.<\/p>\n
