Tomorrow Wednesday at 11 a.m., Fundaci\u00f3n Alternativas<\/strong> is organising a debate entitled Social Europe: is the Spanish Presidency of the EU making progress?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Spain has set itself the objective of making progress during its Presidency of the EU on the social agenda in the second half of 2023. But is real progress being made in these months? The current moment calls for decisive action by all European actors – governments, Council, Commission, Parliament, social and trade union organisations – to underpin significant progress on employment, pensions, education and, in general, the promotion of inclusive growth.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n But the difficult situation of European economies, or the rise of populist nationalism, as well as the multitude of issues on the EU agenda – geopolitical, institutional, migration, etc. – threaten to overshadow the social agenda. A review of the so-called European Semester is needed, as well as addressing issues such as labour protection, the European minimum wage, lifelong learning, gender equality or the digital and educational divide. This colloquium of the Fundaci\u00f3n Alternativas aims to provide an update on the EU social agenda from a critical perspective.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
