{"id":81040,"date":"2023-09-27T04:02:50","date_gmt":"2023-09-27T02:02:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/zen-hopper.82-223-81-17.plesk.page\/2023\/09\/27\/iberdrola-exceeds-420-mw-renewables-in-greece-with-two-new-wind-farms\/"},"modified":"2023-09-27T04:02:50","modified_gmt":"2023-09-27T02:02:50","slug":"iberdrola-exceeds-420-mw-renewables-in-greece-with-two-new-wind-farms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thediplomatinspain.com\/en\/2023\/09\/27\/iberdrola-exceeds-420-mw-renewables-in-greece-with-two-new-wind-farms\/","title":{"rendered":"Iberdrola exceeds 420 MW renewables in Greece with two new wind farms"},"content":{"rendered":"<h6><strong>The Diplomat<\/strong><\/h6>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Iberdrola has reached 421 megawatts (MW) of operational renewable energy in Greece with the commissioning of the 37.8 MW &#8216;Askio II&#8217; and 18 MW &#8216;Rokani&#8217; wind farms<\/strong>, the company said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Located in the provinces of Kozani and Eordaia<strong>, in the Greek region of Western Macedonia, &#8216;Askio II&#8217; joins the 50.4 MW &#8216;Askio III&#8217; project<\/strong>, which is fully operational. The total investment in both projects is <strong>close to EUR 100 million.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This new ongoing project consists of nine Vestas &#8216;V150&#8217; wind turbines, each with a capacity of 4.2 MW, a hub height of 105 metres and a rotor diameter of 150 metres. Both Askio projects are connected to the same grid point, with an expected combined annual output of around 180 gigawatt hours (GWh).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The &#8216;Askio&#8217; projects have been built in a mountainous region at an altitude of 1,500 metres above sea level. In order to be able to drive on the narrow and steep roads, blade-lifting technology was required.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The &#8216;Rokani&#8217; wind farm is located in the Viotia region of central Greece. The installation is equipped with three Vestas &#8216;V162&#8217; turbines of 6 MW unit power, the largest and most powerful wind turbines in operation in Greece, with a hub height of 205 metres.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The group chaired by <strong>Ignacio S\u00e1nchez Gal\u00e1n<\/strong> has been <strong>present in the country since 2007<\/strong>, and <strong>now operates wind and solar projects in the regions of Central Greece, Crete, Thrace, Western Macedonia, Thessaly, Peloponnese and Dodecanese.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Askio&#8217;s two projects have made significant financial contributions to local communities, with \u20ac2.2 million invested in new infrastructure, supporting local businesses.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>During the construction and operation phases of the wind farms, Iberdrola has created 282 direct and indirect jobs, supporting local supply
