Indra will expand the reception band of the self-protection system of the Eurofighter Typhoon, called ‘DASS Praetorian’, to increase the aircraft’s capacity to detect threats<\/strong> and fly safely in the “more complex” missions, according to the company in a statement.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In this way, the technological and defense firm is advancing in the integration of “one of the most important elements” for the evolution of the system that protects the Eurofighter against attacks<\/strong> by enemy missiles and radars.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

During the celebration of the Royal International Air Tattoo<\/strong>, one of the most important air events of a military nature in the world, the Italian defense company Leonardo announced, on behalf of the EuroDASS consortium (of which Leonardo, Elettronica, Indra and Hensoldt are part), the new package of improvements that will incorporate the ‘DASS Praetorian’ self-protection system, including the band extension developed by Indra. “These improvements will be proposed to Eurofighter Typhoon’s partner countries — Germany, Spain, Italy and the United Kingdom — and later offered to export customers. Their development will increase the aircraft’s survivability and lay the foundation for integration of the defense system with the high-capacity E-Scan radar,” explained Indra.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This includes the new ECRS Mk1 radar that is being developed by Hensoldt and Indra with the support of Leonardo for the Spanish and German air forces, the ECRS Mk2 currently under development by Leonardo and BAE Systems with the participation of Indra for the Eurofighter Typhoons of United Kingdom, and the ECRS MK0 with which Kuwait and Qatar operate.<\/p>\n

Indra’s director of defense platforms, Pedro Barco, stressed that the Spanish company is the second supplier of avionics systems for the Eurofighter Typhoon and the “only company” that participates in the evolution of the self-protection system and in the development of the two new versions of the radar.<\/p>\n

“Which highlights, once again, the company’s ability to accelerate the development of the new generation of technologies that European militaries are demanding,” he said.<\/p>\n

In addition to the expansion of the reception band, the update of the ‘DASS Praetorian’ will incorporate a new advanced digital signal processing developed jointly with Hensoldt and “new signal processing algorithms, in addition to increasing its processing speed, capacity and memory Indra added.<\/p>\n
