The British Royal Household has no meeting scheduled in the next few days between King Charles III, who will be crowned on 6 May, and King Juan Carlos I<\/strong>, according to British diplomatic sources, as reported to Europa Press<\/em>.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

According to various media reports, the emeritus had planned to attend a private lunch in London with the new British monarch next week, before travelling to the Galician town of Sanxenxo to take part in a regatta on 22 and 23 April.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

However, sources at the British Embassy in Spain clarified yesterday that no meeting between the King Emeritus and Charles III, with whom he is related, is planned<\/strong>. Don Juan Carlos is the great-great-grandson of Queen Victoria of England, as were Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. Furthermore, his grandmother, Queen Victoria Eugenie, was a first cousin of the Duke of Edinburgh’s mother, Alice of Battenberg.<\/p>\n

The King Emeritus already had the opportunity to meet Charles III last September, on the occasion of the funeral of Elizabeth II, which was also attended by King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, as well as Do\u00f1a Sof\u00eda.<\/p>\n

The planned trip of Don Juan Carlos to Sanxenxo on the occasion of a regatta in which his boat, the ‘Brib\u00f3n’, will participate, would be the second to Spain since his departure to the United Arab Emirates in August 2020.<\/p>\n

Felipe VI’s father made his first visit at the end of May last year, when he also travelled to the Galician town and paid a visit of a few hours to Zarzuela. At that time, the emeritus met with the King in private before having lunch with Don Felipe and other members of his family, including Do\u00f1a Letizia and Do\u00f1a Sof\u00eda.<\/p>\n
