{"id":79685,"date":"2023-04-14T04:04:07","date_gmt":"2023-04-14T02:04:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/zen-hopper.82-223-81-17.plesk.page\/2023\/04\/14\/albares-approves-appointment-of-more-than-a-hundred-posts-abroad\/"},"modified":"2023-04-14T04:04:07","modified_gmt":"2023-04-14T02:04:07","slug":"albares-approves-appointment-of-more-than-a-hundred-posts-abroad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thediplomatinspain.com\/en\/2023\/04\/14\/albares-approves-appointment-of-more-than-a-hundred-posts-abroad\/","title":{"rendered":"Albares approves appointment of more than a hundred posts abroad"},"content":{"rendered":"<h6><strong>The Diplomat<\/strong><\/h6>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jos\u00e9 Manuel Albares, has given &#8216;green light&#8217; to the appointment of more than a hundred posts abroad<\/strong>, including the <strong>Second Heads of the Spanish Embassies in Mexico, Cuba, Venezuela, Japan, Algeria and the Vatican<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The resolution of the call for posts, known in diplomatic jargon as &#8216;el Bombo&#8217;, will be published next week in the Official State Gazette (BOE) and those chosen will take up their posts in August.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As The Diplomat reported, Albares had reserved the direct appointment, without waiting for the opinion of the Diplomatic Career Board, of the &#8216;number two&#8217; in Mexico City, Havana and Caracas, as well as the deputy permanent representative to the UN in Geneva. <strong>Mar\u00eda Salcedo, current director of the Cabinet of the Secretary of State for Ibero-America, the Caribbean and Spanish in the World, will go to Mexico; Eduardo S\u00e1nchez Moreno, who currently holds the same post at the Embassy in Ireland, will go to Havana; Ricardo Santos, currently assigned to the Spanish Embassy in the United States, will go to Caracas; and Cara Cabrera, current deputy director of the Cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, will go to Geneva.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In addition, <strong>Miguel G\u00f3mez de Aranda will occupy the second post in Tokyo; Eduardo L\u00f3pez<\/strong> Busquets, the same post in the Vatican; and \u00c1lvaro Ortega will be the &#8216;number two&#8217; in Algiers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>They will also be <strong>the second<\/strong> in the respective Embassies: <strong>Carlos Dom\u00ednguez (Montevideo), Christian Font (Dublin), Fernando Alonso (Copenhagen), Fernando de Castro (Pretoria), Rodrigo Campos (Asunci\u00f3n), Carmen Carnes (Tunis) and Mar\u00eda Palacios (Paris. Unesco),<\/strong> among others.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Some <strong>Consulates General<\/strong> will be held by: <strong>Francisco Jos\u00e9 R\u00e1bena (Zurich), Eduardo Aznar (Rome), \u00c1lvaro Trejo (Milan), Ana Mar\u00eda Men\u00e9ndez (Istanbul), Ricardo Mor (Stuttgart), Ram\u00f3n Abaroa (Montpellier), Manuel Larrotcha (Toulouse), Pablo Montesino-Espartero (Sao Paulo), Juan Antonio Mart\u00edn Burgos (Naples), Eduardo Alonso Luengo (Canton), Carlos S\u00e1enz de Tejada (Chengdu), Pedro Sanz (Guayaquil) and Alejandro Alvargonz\u00e1lez Largo (Bata)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The following have been elected as cultural advisors, among others:<strong> Ignacio D\u00edaz de la Guardia (Paris), Joaqu\u00edn Dur\u00e1n (The Hague), Roberto Varela (Buenos Aires), Jos\u00e9 Miguel de Lara (Brasilia), Ernesto Heredero (Santiago de Chile), Magdalena Cruz (Cairo) and Alberto Miranda
