The Fundaci\u00f3n Carolina<\/strong> and the Migration Policy Institute<\/strong> are holding a meeting this afternoon at 5 p.m. in the Sim\u00f3n Bol\u00edvar Hall of Casa Am\u00e9rica<\/strong> on Challenges and opportunities for a migration agenda in Latin America.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The two institutions are convening this meeting to discuss the current prospects of the migration agenda in Latin America in terms of the challenges and opportunities it presents. The aim is also to learn about good migration practices in various countries in the region, based on three sub-themes: regularisation, integration and intersectoral alliances.<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The recent migratory experience of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean has posed a new challenge as host societies in the face of the rapid evolution and increase in the number of people in mobility, which has led them to focus their efforts on the design and implementation of responses within the framework of comprehensive public policies and existing legislation in the area, many of which are insufficient to take on this complex challenge.<\/p>\n
