The Embassy of Argentina<\/strong> presented last Tuesday the book Somos Sobrevivientes (We are survivors),<\/em><\/strong> in which eight writers interviewed eight survivors of childhood sexual abuse and tell their stories.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

How do you tell the story of abuse? How do you break the secret that the abuser imposes with threats? How do you talk about a pain and shame that most of the time happens within the family? How do you tell that someone has been subjected by a father, a mother, a brother, a grandfather, a neighbour?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This is an uncomfortable book, it talks about the violence exercised by adults against minors that left marks and conditioned their lives. It speaks of difficult situations that occurred in childhoods that were not cared for, in which their trust, their physical integrity and their mental health were abused.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Eight writers listened to eight survivors of abuse and told their stories from a place of empathy and denunciation with the best tool they have: the word.<\/strong> Where silence is the abuser’s accomplice, words are the victims’ ally. The stories reflected in this anthology allow us to see beyond the silenced, connecting solitary pain with common pain, in an invitation to stop being silent and encourage us to dream together of a brighter future.<\/p>\n
