In collaboration with Casa Asia,<\/strong> this afternoon at 7 p.m., Casa Am\u00e9rica<\/strong> presents in its Sim\u00f3n Bol\u00edvar Hall a round table discussion entitled China in Latin America,<\/em><\/strong> a dialogue between experts to debate the economic and geopolitical impact of China in Latin America and its future paths. Free admission until full capacity is reached.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n China has a growing presence in Latin America, it is its second largest trading partner and significant Chinese investments have been made in the region in the areas of infrastructure, raw materials and energy. Such a significant economic presence inevitably goes hand in hand with an increase in political influence. In fact, seven countries in the region already have strategic partnerships with China.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Luis Prados,<\/strong> Casa de Am\u00e9rica’s director of programming, and Emilio de Miguel,<\/strong> ambassador on special mission for the Indo-Pacific and director of the Casa Asia-Madrid Centre, will give the welcoming speeches. Alicia Garc\u00eda-Herrero,<\/strong> chief economist for Asia-Pacific at Natixis, Senior Fellow at Bruegel and senior associate researcher at the Real Instituto Elcano, and Enrique Alberola,<\/strong> advisor to the Bank of Spain and former head of the BIS Office in the Americas, will participate.
