This evening at 7 p.m., Casa \u00c1rabe<\/strong> will be hosting the sixth lecture in the Aula \u00c1rabe Universitaria 4 programme<\/em>, given by Adam Hanieh,<\/strong> professor at the University of Exeter, entitled The Gulf States and East Asia: Rethinking Middle Eastern Oil in the World Economy.<\/em><\/strong> Free admission until full capacity is reached. In English and Spanish, with simultaneous interpretation.<\/p>\n

The Gulf States continue to be a crucial area in the production and export of hydrocarbons worldwide, despite the recent diversification of their economies. For this reason, the lecture by Professor Adam Hanieh, Professor of Political Economy and Global Development at the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies (IAIS) at the University of Exeter, will examine the new trajectories of Gulf oil in global capitalism, placing special emphasis on the growing interdependencies which are emerging between the Gulf States and East Asia, both in crude oil exports and, above all, in derivative sectors, such as the production of petrochemical products.<\/p>\n

Casa \u00c1rabe is organising this sixth session of the Aula \u00c1rabe Universitaria 4 series in collaboration with the UAM’s Master’s in International Relations and African Studies and the Master’s in Political Science and Public Affairs at Saint Louis University (Madrid Campus). Marta \u00cd\u00f1iguez,<\/strong> professor of Political Science and International Relations at the Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Madrid, and Barah Mikail,<\/strong> professor of Political Science and International Relations at Saint Louis University – Madrid Campus, will participate in the conference on behalf of both programmes. The session will be moderated by Olivia Orozco,<\/strong> Casa \u00c1rabe’s Training and Economics Coordinator.<\/p>\n
