The Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Semyon Bychkov, <\/strong>the Orfe\u00f3n Donostiarra <\/strong>and the sisters Katia & Marielle Lab\u00e8que<\/strong> (in the photo), close the 83rd San Sebastian Musical Fortnight <\/strong>with two emblematic concerts on 26th and 27th August in the Auditorio Kursaal<\/strong> in the capital of San Sebastian.<\/p>\n

Possibly the most exquisite conductor on the international scene, Semyon Bychkov, returns to the Quincena Musical on August 26th to offer Mahler’s<\/strong> Seventh.<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

On the 27th, the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and Semyon Bychkov will be joined by the sisters Katia & Marielle Lab\u00e8que, in a concert that goes outside the established framework, as it will feature two works of rare rarity. First of all, the sisters will perform the Concerto for two pianos<\/em> by Bohuslav Martinu,<\/strong> a Bohemian composer contemporary of Leo\u0161 Jan\u00e1\u010dek who, although he does not enjoy the international fame of his compatriot, his oeuvre includes more than 400 works, and he is renowned above all as a composer of choral music. Martinu’s concert is accompanied by another of the great works of his contemporary Leo\u0161 Jan\u00e1\u010dek:<\/strong> the Glagolitic Mass,<\/em> a monumental work, the texts of which are in Old Church Slavonic. For this colossal work, Bychkov will make use of the voices of the Orfe\u00f3n Donostiarra, <\/strong>as well as the soloists Evelina Dobra\u010deva, Lucie Hilscherov\u00e1, Ale\u0161 Briscein <\/strong>and Jan Martin\u00edk.<\/strong> Organist Daniela Valtov\u00e1 Kosinov\u00e1<\/strong> will also take part. The programme will be completed by the best-known Czech composer of all time: Antonin Dvorak,<\/strong> whose Carnival Overture, op. 92<\/em> will open the concert.
