Iberdrola, through its international startup programme Perseo, has launched a competition for innovative companies from around the world to propose new materials, designs, manufacturing methodologies and construction methods for electrical substations and very high voltage lines<\/strong>, the company announced.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The energy company chaired by Ignacio S\u00e1nchez Gal\u00e1n said that this initiative is part of its commitment to combat climate change and promote sustainability.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Specifically, the objectives of the initiative are to optimise the cost of materials and the methodologies currently applied, reduce the environmental impact of the construction of new assets in electricity grids, optimise the cost and time associated with civil works and assembly, and increase safety and risk prevention in assembly processes.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The challenge is being launched within the framework of the new smart grid innovation centre, the Global Smart Grids Innovation Hub, which aims to become a global benchmark in smart grids through open collaboration and coworking between technicians from the Iberdrola group’s electricity distribution company (i-DE), suppliers, startups and different organisations from around the world.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Iberdrola will thus seek new formulas for its extensive network of transmission and distribution power lines, with 1.2 million kilometres spread across the United States, Brazil, the United Kingdom and Spain.<\/strong><\/p>\n
