{"id":75889,"date":"2022-02-09T05:04:01","date_gmt":"2022-02-09T04:04:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/zen-hopper.82-223-81-17.plesk.page\/2022\/02\/09\/malis-new-ambassador-to-spain-takes-up-his-post\/"},"modified":"2022-02-09T05:04:01","modified_gmt":"2022-02-09T04:04:01","slug":"malis-new-ambassador-to-spain-takes-up-his-post","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thediplomatinspain.com\/en\/2022\/02\/09\/malis-new-ambassador-to-spain-takes-up-his-post\/","title":{"rendered":"Mali&#8217;s new ambassador to Spain takes up his post"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h6><strong>The Diplomat<\/strong><\/h6>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mali&#8217;s new ambassador to Spain, General Abdrahamane Baby, presented his Copies of Style<\/strong> at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the end of January, after taking up his post.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Abdrahamane Baby is a military man with a long career in his country, where <strong>he has been Chief of Staff of the Army and Deputy Chief of Staff of the Malian Armed Forces.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In November last year, the Malian Council of Ministers, meeting under the presidency of Colonel Assumi Goita, who led the coup d&#8217;\u00e9tat perpetrated in that country in August 2020, agreed on the appointment of Baby as the new ambassador to Spain, replacing Abdoulaye Koumare, who had held the post since 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The new ambassador arrives in Madrid at a time when European countries view with concern the latest actions of the Malian military junta and the presence of Russian mercenaries from the Wagner Group in the country, something that was denounced by the French foreign minister, Jean-Yves Le Drian.
