The Fundaci\u00f3n Paz y Cooperaci\u00f3n<\/strong> is celebrating the School Day for Nonviolence and Peace <\/em><\/strong>this afternoon at 4pm with a debate on the Zoom platform moderated by Mercedes Trujillo,<\/strong> Doctor in Law and Corresponding Academician of the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation, Spain.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Speakers at the event included Professor Miguel P\u00e9rez,<\/strong> Director of the AH CPEE Hospital del Ni\u00f1o Jes\u00fas in Madrid; Mar\u00eda Fern\u00e1ndez,<\/strong> specialist in Education and Patron of Paz y Cooperaci\u00f3n; Tania Ram\u00edrez,<\/strong> Executive Director of the Red por los Derechos de la Infancia de M\u00e9xico, and Carlos Uriarte,<\/strong> Professor of Law at the URJC and Patron of Paz y Cooperaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Since 1964, the School Day of Peace and Nonviolence (DENYP)<\/strong> has been commemorated every 30 January. This particular date was chosen because it was the date on which Mahatma Gandhi,<\/strong> India’s nationalist and spiritual leader and the world’s foremost figure of peaceful resistance, was killed.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n In 1998, the UN proclaimed the International Decade for a Culture of Peace (2001-2010). At that time, the School Day for Peace and Nonviolence had already been in practice in schools around the world for 36 years.
