With the participation of Josep Piqu\u00e9, Javier Parrondo <\/strong>and Alicia Garc\u00eda Herrero,<\/strong> the Foreign Policy Review will present its new issue, El siglo asi\u00e1tico (The Asian Century) <\/em><\/strong>at Casa Asia<\/strong> in Madrid next Wednesday at 4 p.m. \u00c1urea Molt\u00f3<\/strong> will moderate the event.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Asia-Pacific region, in its new name of Indo-Pacific, is acquiring an increasingly important role as it becomes the new axis of world power. The defence pact between Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States, as well as the escalating tension over Taiwan, have further strained relations between the West and China. On the economic front, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) between the 10 ASEAN members and five Asia-Pacific states has created the world’s largest economic bloc. In parallel, the EU has presented a strategy for the Indo-Pacific, an area that is home to four of the EU’s ten largest trading partners and is now the EU’s second largest export destination.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The central section of this issue of Foreign Policy looks at the dynamics of the Indo-Pacific. This publication is the first initiative within the agreement between Casa Asia and Pol\u00edtica Exterior, whose objective is to study the changes taking place in this continent from a multidisciplinary perspective and to bring the Asian reality closer to the Spanish public.
