King Philip VI will travel this Monday to Puerto Rico on the occasion of the celebration of the Fifth Centenary of the founding of the capital, San Juan.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is the second visit of the Monarch to Puerto Rico, after the one he made in 2016 together with Queen Letizia to inaugurate the VII Congress of the Spanish Language<\/strong>. The King is traveling accompanied by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, and the Secretary of State for Foreign and Global Affairs, \u00c1ngeles Moreno Bau.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

During his stay in Puerto Rico, which will take place from January 24 to 26, the King Philip will hold a meeting with the governor of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Pedro Pierlusi<\/strong>, at the Santa Catalina Palace, and will participate in an event organized by the mayor of the capital, Miguel Romero<\/strong>, at the San Juan City Hall. Yesterday, the Official State Bulletin (BOE) published the Royal Decrees granting the Grand Cross of the Order of Isabella the Catholic<\/strong> to Pedro Rafael and Miguel Romero.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The King is also scheduled to inaugurate the Economic and Business Forum<\/strong>, which will be attended by Spanish and Puerto Rican businessmen, and to hold a meeting with a representation of the Spanish community <\/strong>at the Casa de Espa\u00f1a in Puerto Rico. In addition, Philip VI will make a series of cultural visits to exhibitions on Juan Ram\u00f3n Jim\u00e9nez and the legacy of Pau Casals, as well as the Museum of San Juan and the Church of San Jos\u00e9.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

“The presence of the King Philip in San Juan, puts in value the close and close relationship of Spain with the United States and very particularly with Puerto Rico, a state with which it maintains a special historical, human and cultural journey,” said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a press release. It also “emphasizes the strength of ties that have intensified in recent years, both politically, economically and socially,” it concluded.<\/p>\n
