This morning at 12 noon, the Minister of Culture and Sport, Miquel Iceta,<\/strong> together with the president of Acci\u00f3n Cultural Espa\u00f1ola (AC\/E), Jos\u00e9 Andr\u00e9s Torres Mora,<\/strong> and the director of Cultural and Scientific Relations of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), Guzm\u00e1n Palacios,<\/strong> will open the exhibition La Flota de Nueva Espa\u00f1a and the search for the Juncal,<\/em><\/strong> at the Archivo General de Indias<\/strong> in Seville.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n On 1 November 1631, the Spanish galleon Nuestra Se\u00f1ora del Juncal<\/strong> ended up shipwrecked in the Gulf of Mexico after a 16-day struggle for its own survival. Of its 300 crew members, only 39 made it back to shore alive, although luck played a major role in the fate of those on board. Almost four hundred years later, Spain and Mexico undertook a joint archaeological campaign in 2020 to continue to locate the remains of the ship, one of the two flagships of the New Spain Fleet.
