{"id":75073,"date":"2021-11-11T05:00:09","date_gmt":"2021-11-11T04:00:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/zen-hopper.82-223-81-17.plesk.page\/2021\/11\/11\/act-in-remembrance-of-murder-victim-dominican-lucrecia-perez-matos\/"},"modified":"2021-11-11T05:00:09","modified_gmt":"2021-11-11T04:00:09","slug":"act-in-remembrance-of-murder-victim-dominican-lucrecia-perez-matos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thediplomatinspain.com\/en\/2021\/11\/11\/act-in-remembrance-of-murder-victim-dominican-lucrecia-perez-matos\/","title":{"rendered":"Act in remembrance of murder victim, dominican Lucrecia P\u00e9rez Matos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Embassy of the Dominican Republic<\/strong> will honour the memory of <strong>Lucrecia P\u00e9rez Matos<\/strong> in a significant event on Saturday 13 November at 11 am, in the auditorium of the <strong>Progreso y Cultura Foundation of the UGT,<\/strong> on the 29th anniversary of her murder in Madrid, at the hands of a civil guard, an event motivated by the discrimination that was taking place at the time.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The activity will include a panel discussion with <strong>Bernarda Jim\u00e9nez,<\/strong> author of the book <strong><em>Lucrecia P\u00e9rez Matos: Una muerte anunciada y la primera inmigraci\u00f3n laboral a Espa\u00f1a; <\/em>Kenia Carvajal,<\/strong> daughter of Lucrecia; and <strong>Patrocinio de las Heras, <\/strong>former councillor of the District of Aravaca. The artistic participation will be in charge of the writer <strong>Marielys Duluc,<\/strong> the singer <strong>Claudia S\u00e1nchez Vizca\u00edno<\/strong> and the pianist <strong>Mtro. Daniel Oriza.<\/strong> After the event, a wreath will be laid at the monument of Lucrecia P\u00e9rez, located at Avenida de la Osa Mayor 2, Madrid. Lucrecia P\u00e9rez Matos was born on 15 December 1959 in Vicente Noble, Barahona, Dominican Republic. She emigrated to Spain in search of a better future and to be able to provide for her daughter whom she left behind in her native country. She was murdered in Madrid, a victim of racism and xenophobia, the first case recognised as such in Spain.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The
