The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)<\/strong> has once again highlighted, in a new report published yesterday, the high repetition rate in Spain, which is the highest in lower secondary school and the second highest in upper secondary school among OECD countries<\/strong>, reports Europa Press<\/em>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
According to the report, entitled ‘Education at a Glance 2021’, in which the Ministry of Education and Professional Training participates in the preparation of the Spanish report with the most relevant data for Spain, in the first stage of secondary education (1st to 3rd year of ESO), there were 8.7% of repeaters in 2019, the highest rate in OECD countries, whose average is 1.9%. The EU average is 2.2%.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
And in the second stage of secondary education (4th ESO, Baccalaureate, Basic and Intermediate Professional Training), 7.9% of students in Spain repeated the same year, compared to 3% in OECD countries and 3.3% in the EU, making Spain the second country with the most repeaters at this stage in the OECD, only behind the Czech Republic, with 8.2%.<\/p>\n
