Thanks to this agreement, <strong>neither Spaniards nor French nationals will be obliged to renounce their nationality of origin once they acquire the other nationality.<\/strong> There is no provision for privileged access to nationality, nor for a reduction in the number of years to obtain Spanish nationality by residence, which will remain at 10 years for French nationals.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This is the first agreement of this kind signed by Spain with a non-Ibero-American state. Until now, Spain only allowed dual nationality with Ibero-American countries, Andorra, Equatorial Guinea, the Philippines and Portugal.
