The deputies request that Gonz\u00e1lez Laya attends the aforementioned committee to &#8220;report on the inclusion, in the draft of the Regulations of the Diplomatic Career, of the concept of &#8216;diversity&#8217; among the principles for access to it&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The latest draft of the Regulations of the Diplomatic Career submitted to a public hearing included &#8220;diversity&#8221; among the guiding principles of this text, but also among those that<a href=\"https:\/\/thediplomatinspain.com\/en\/2021\/04\/foreign-ministry-wants-diversity-to-be-considered-to-access-diplomatic-service\/\"><strong> must be taken into account, along with equality, merit and ability, in order to gain access to the Diplomatic Career.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Board of Directors of the Association of Spanish Diplomats (ADE),<\/strong> which represents 65% of the members of the career, presented a series of observations on the draft, indicating that it agreed with the inclusion of the concept of &#8220;diversity&#8221; as a &#8220;guiding principle&#8221; in the preamble of the Regulation, but <a href=\"https:\/\/thediplomatinspain.com\/en\/2021\/04\/association-of-diplomats-yes-to-diversity-in-the-rules-but-not-in-the-articles\/\"><strong>disagreed with its inclusion in the articles, as it considered that it could generate confusion and legal uncertainty.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, the platform <strong>&#8220;Exterior es diverso&#8221;<\/strong>, which brings together diplomats and other Foreign Service officials from the LGTBI community, defends the inclusion of the principle of &#8220;diversity&#8221;, because it believes that<a href=\"https:\/\/thediplomatinspain.com\/en\/2021\/04\/exterior-es-diverso-advocates-for-the-inclusion-of-diversity-in-access-to-the-diplomatic-career\/\"><strong> &#8220;the diplomatic career should reflect the diversity and plurality of Spanish society&#8221;<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Vox Parliamentary Group has presented a request for the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Arancha Gonz\u00e1lez Laya, to appear before the Congress of Deputies to explain the inclusion of &#8220;diversity&#8221; among the principles for access to the Diplomatic Career.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"jnews-multi-image_gallery":[],"jnews_single_post":[],"jnews_primary_category":[],"jnews_social_meta":[],"jnews_override_counter":[],"jnews_post_split":[],"footnotes":""},"categories":[159,182,165,186],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-73448","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news","category-subscribers","category-the-bag-en","category-valija-diplomatica-2"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.7 -
