{"id":72470,"date":"2021-01-14T05:02:01","date_gmt":"2021-01-14T04:02:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/zen-hopper.82-223-81-17.plesk.page\/2021\/01\/14\/cuban-embassy-rejects-us-labels-its-government-as-terrorism-sponsor\/"},"modified":"2021-01-14T05:02:01","modified_gmt":"2021-01-14T04:02:01","slug":"cuban-embassy-rejects-us-labels-its-government-as-terrorism-sponsor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thediplomatinspain.com\/en\/2021\/01\/14\/cuban-embassy-rejects-us-labels-its-government-as-terrorism-sponsor\/","title":{"rendered":"Cuban Embassy rejects US labels its Government as terrorism sponsor"},"content":{"rendered":"<h6><strong>The Diplomat<\/strong><\/h6>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Cuban Embassy in Spain<\/strong> has issued a statement in which it includes the declaration of its Ministry of Foreign Affairs that considers the qualification of that country by the United States as a &#8220;State sponsor of terrorism&#8221; to be &#8220;fraudulent and opportunistic&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In its communiqu\u00e9, the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which condemns the action of Donald Trump&#8217;s government as &#8220;a cynical and hypocritical act,&#8221; states that &#8220;for months there has been speculation about the possibility of including Cuba on a <strong>unilateral list <\/strong>of the US Department of State which thus qualifies countries, without any mandate or legitimacy, lacking in genuine motivation, with reference to terrorism and its consequences, and as an instrument of defamation to apply coercive economic measures against nations that resist bowing to the whims of US imperialism&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The announcement made by Secretary of State <strong>Michael Pompeo,<\/strong> continues the communiqu\u00e9 to which the Cuban Embassy adheres, &#8220;constitutes a superb act by a government that is discredited, dishonest and morally bankrupt. It is known, without a doubt, that the real motivation for this action is to impose additional obstacles to any prospect of recovery in bilateral relations between Cuba and the United States. <strong>Cuba is not a state sponsor of terrorism,<\/strong> a truth recognised by all. The official and well-known policy and impeccable conduct of our country is the rejection of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, particularly state terrorism, by whomever, against whomever and wherever it is committed&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The declaration ends by stating that &#8220;Cuba is a state victim of terrorism and our population has suffered it in the flesh, at the cost of 3,478 deaths and 2,099 persons with disabilities, for <strong>acts committed by the government of the United States or perpetrated and sponsored from the territory of that country<\/strong> with the tolerance of the official authorities. We Cubans reject with contempt any maneuver aimed at manipulating such a sensitive issue, for crude purposes of political
