The Casa Asia Center in Madrid (Calle Mayor, 69) will host the roundtable discussion \u201cThe Challenge of Reporting on India: What Image Do Spanish Media Convey Today?\u201d on July 7th. This event is part of the Spain-India Dual Year 2026. It will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. CEST and is free of charge with prior registration.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

This roundtable discussion will analyze the relationship between Spain and India from a journalistic perspective, with the participation of Spanish journalists with professional experience in the country.<\/p>\n

For years, China has garnered much of the media attention on Asia. However, in recent times, India has been gaining prominence as a strategic partner and key player in the so-called Global South, while its relevance for Europe and Spain is growing, in a context marked by the diversification of alliances and the strengthening of economic relations between the European Union and India. Within this framework, India is already Spain’s second-largest trading partner in Asia.<\/p>\n

Today, India has established itself as one of the great emerging powers of the 21st century: the world’s most populous country, one of the leading global economies, a member of the G20 and the BRICS, and an increasingly influential player in the international geopolitical balance.<\/p>\n

Drawing on the experiences of Spanish journalists who have worked on the ground, this conversation will explore the image of India conveyed in the Spanish media, and whether this reflects its growing global weight or, conversely, whether the country continues to occupy an intermittent place on the news agenda.<\/p>\n

This event is part of the celebration of the Spain-India Dual Year 2026, a joint initiative aimed at strengthening bilateral ties on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1956.<\/p>\n
