The Prime Minister, Pedro S\u00e1nchez, met this Tuesday, February 10, with the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada (the unicameral parliament) of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, with whom he discussed, among other issues, the country’s current needs in the energy sector and its process of European integration.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

During the meeting, held at the Moncloa Palace complex, Pedro S\u00e1nchez reaffirmed Spain’s commitment to continue supporting Ukraine until the end of the war and its support for its accession to the European Union, “also highlighting the importance of advancing the European security architecture,” according to a brief press release from Moncloa.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister also emphasized “Spain’s recent contribution of several high-power generators that will help more than 14,000 people” cope with the damage to essential energy infrastructure caused by the recent Russian attacks.<\/p>\n

For his part, Ruslan Stefanchuk expressed his \u201cgratitude for Spain\u2019s comprehensive support for Ukraine \u2014 political, defence, humanitarian, and financial.\u201d He conveyed to S\u00e1nchez \u201cUkraine\u2019s current needs in the energy sector\u201d and thanked \u201cSpain for its assistance in restoring energy infrastructure,\u201d as he wrote on social media.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe discussed Ukraine\u2019s European integration, the situation in the energy sector, and the broader security context. I briefed him on the consequences of russian attacks on critical infrastructure and on the real situation on the battlefield,\u201d he stated. \u201cSpain\u2019s support is important not only for Ukraine but also for the stability of all of Europe,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n
