Last Tuesday, November 25, the Council of Ministers authorized a voluntary contribution from Spain to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to support the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) review process. The contribution amounts to \u20ac99,666 in 2025 and \u20ac75,334 in 2026, for a total of \u20ac175,000.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The DAC is the OECD body responsible for promoting the coordination, effectiveness, and adequate financing of international efforts for the economic and social development of developing countries. Spain has been a member of the Committee since 1991 and participates in its activities through the Directorate-General for Sustainable Development Policies.<\/p>\n

The DAC serves as a forum for consultation among the main donor countries and for defining the standards of excellence in development cooperation policy. Furthermore, the DAC is responsible for compiling and updating the list of recipient countries of Official Development Assistance and has the authority to analyze each country’s aid program and to issue recommendations and guidelines on the policies and practices of its member states regarding development cooperation, including financial modalities.<\/p>\n

The Development Assistance Committee is financed by contributions from its 32 member states, partly through mandatory contributions to the OECD and partly through voluntary contributions, and channels a substantial percentage of global public development assistance. Spain supports the DAC annually through voluntary contributions to the general budget and with specific contributions to certain committees or work programs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
