The Embassy of the Dominican Republic,<\/strong> in collaboration with the General Directorate of Film of the Dominican Republic (DGCINE)<\/strong> and with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Institute of Dominicans Abroad (INDEX), <\/strong>and the Dominican Consulate General in Madrid,<\/strong> announces the celebration of the 14th edition of the Todo Cine. Todo Dominicana film festival,<\/em><\/strong> an annual event that brings together the best of current Dominican cinema. The event will take place from October 25 to 28 and November 3 to 5, in various theaters throughout the city of Madrid.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n As every year, this festival aims to showcase the highlights of contemporary Dominican cinema, highlighting its growth as a cultural industry and its impact both nationally and internationally. This year, the public will be able to enjoy a varied program that includes productions about emblematic figures of Dominican culture. Such is the case with La Grande,<\/u><\/strong> an intimate look at the life of legendary artist Fefita la Grande,<\/strong> which will open the exhibition on Saturday, October 25th at 5:00 PM at the Centro Cultural Jos\u00e9 Espronceda in the Tetu\u00e1n district.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n This year, the exhibition’s special gala will be held at the iconic Cines Capitol on Gran V\u00eda, with the screening of the documentary about the outstanding athlete Marileidy Paulino,<\/strong> a production that pays tribute to her inspiring career and symbolizes the pride of the entire nation.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Other productions will also be presented, such as the acclaimed film Sugar Island<\/em><\/strong> (pictured), recognized at international festivals, as well as a documentary tribute to Francis Ford Coppola’s<\/strong> classic The Godfather Part II,<\/em><\/strong> which was partially filmed in Santo Domingo.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Additionally, titles will be screened such as Aire,<\/em><\/strong> by renowned director Leticia Tonos, <\/strong>who will be present during its screening at Casa de Am\u00e9rica; Olivia y las Nubes, <\/em><\/strong>which will include a specialized panel on animation at the C\u00edrculo de Bellas Artes; and the drama Madre, a dos centimeters de ti,<\/em><\/strong> which will be presented at the Peque\u00f1o Cine Estudio.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The program also includes the short film Acordes del destino,<\/em><\/strong> a Dominican Republic-Spain co-production, written and directed by Luis Daniel N\u00fa\u00f1ez.<\/strong> The story tells the story of Arturo, a young foreign student in Spain who, facing financial difficulties, decides to entrust his destiny to music.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n As part of the pre-screening activities, the Embassy will organize the panel Making Films in the Diaspora, <\/em><\/strong>which will be held on Wednesday, October 22 at 6:00 p.m., in the Auditorio Cremades & Calvo-Sotelo (calle Jorge Juan, 30). This event will bring together filmmakers, producers, and audiovisual industry professionals to discuss the challenges and opportunities of making films based on the migrant experience.
