Today at 11 o’clock, the Real F\u00e1brica de Tapices<\/strong> (calle Fuenterrab\u00eda, 2) opens the exhibition What we were and what we will be,<\/em><\/strong> by the Italian artist Gianluca Lattuada, <\/strong>with the presence of the Ambassador of Italy, Giuseppe Buccino,<\/strong> accompanied by the Minister of Culture, Teodora Danisi.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n As a result of the three-month residency of the Italian artist Gianluca Lattuada at the Real F\u00e1brica de Tapices (RFT), he has developed a series of pieces that will make up this exhibition. This project proposes a dialogue between contemporary art and the textile heritage of the Real F\u00e1brica, as Lattuada\u2019s works are intertwined with tapestries, carpets and cardboard from the permanent collection, exploring the relationship between matter, memory and transformation.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Starting from fragments of historical carpets, Gianluca Lattuada transforms textile waste into new visual palimpsests, giving the material a second life and revealing the memory contained in each fiber. The result is an encounter between past and present that questions the ability of art to conserve, transform and reactivate history. In the words of Lattuada himself, “the residue should not be understood as a waste, but as a living archive: fragments of memory which, by transforming into form and colour, reveal that the past is not extinguished, but continues to inhabit the present, opening up new possibilities for meaning and beauty”.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n This work with waste is directly linked to the FRG\u2019s commitment to sustainability, recycling and circular economy in the textile sector.
