The Council of Ministers has taken note of the denunciation filed by the Republic of Kyrgyzstan from the Convention on the Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investments between Spain and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) and has authorized its referral to the Cortes Generales.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Denunciation is a unilateral act by which one party expresses its desire to terminate a treaty in its relations with the other parties. Termination entails the definitive cessation of the treaty.<\/p>\n

The Kyrgyz Embassy in Kazakhstan requested, by verbal note, the effective denunciation of the Convention on the Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investments between Spain and the USSR, which entered into force on November 28, 1991.<\/p>\n

Following the dissolution of the USSR, the validity of this Convention between Spain and the newly emerged States was raised, and an agreement was reached that the Convention would remain in force until its denunciation or termination, in accordance with Article 34 of the Vienna Convention of August 23, 1978, on the Succession of States.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
