The President of the Government, Pedro S\u00e1nchez, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jos\u00e9 Manuel Albares, remembered this Tuesday the victims of \u201cviolence and fanaticism\u201d and of \u201cterrorist unreason\u201d on the occasion of the European Day of the Victims of Terrorism and the twenty-first anniversary of the attacks of March 11 in Madrid.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In a message on social networks, Pedro S\u00e1nchez dedicated a \u201cspecial memory\u201d to \u201call the victims of terrorism\u201d and declared that, \u201cin the face of violence and fanaticism\u201d \u201ctruth, justice and reparation\u201d must prevail.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday, European Day of the Victims of Terrorism and on the anniversary of 11-M, we remember the victims of terrorist unreason and reaffirm the strength of our convictions,\u201d wrote Albares. \u201cDemocracy and freedom will never give in to violence,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The president of the People\u2019s Party, Alberto N\u00fa\u00f1ez Feij\u00f3o, declared that \u201cSpanish society will never forget the impact of terrorism.\u201d \u201cDignity, respect and memory for all the victims. Their pain is ours,\u201d he added. For its part, the People\u2019s Party dedicated a tribute \u201cto the victims and their families.\u201d \u201cFrom the PP we reaffirm our defense of memory, dignity and justice,\u201d he wrote on social media.<\/p>\n

The second vice president of the Government and leader of Sumar, Yolanda D\u00edaz, wrote on the social network Bluesky: \u201c21 years ago the whole country stopped. 21 years in which people took to the streets and gave an example of solidarity while the PP of (Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda) Aznar lied.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Defence also joined in remembering the victims of \u201cthis brutal attack, the worst that Spain has ever suffered and in which, in return, the dedication and solidarity of the citizens was the overwhelming response to this barbarity.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the morning of 11 March 2004, several explosions occurred on various commuter trains in Madrid as a result of a jihadist attack that caused 192 deaths and 1,856 injuries.<\/p>\n
