Eduardo Gonz\u00e1lez<\/strong><\/h6>\n

Eduardo Cerro Godinho, who served as Spanish ambassador to Paraguay and Ecuador, has died at the age of 83, according to information provided last week by Cuban entrepreneur (and personal friend) Miguel \u00c1ngel Alvelo C\u00e9spedes through the digital newspaper Cr\u00f3nicas de la Emigraci\u00f3n<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Born on September 26, 1941 in Barcelona, \u200b\u200bEduardo Cerro had a degree in Law and joined the Diplomatic Service in 1968.<\/p>\n

He was assigned to the Spanish diplomatic representations in Addis Ababa, Paris and Peru and to the permanent representation of Spain before the Organization of American States (OAS) and before the United Nations agencies in Geneva.<\/p>\n

In 1985 he was appointed deputy director general of the Office of Diplomatic Information and in 1987 he was appointed Spanish ambassador to Paraguay. He held this position until 1993, when he was named consul general in Havana.<\/p>\n

Between 1997 and 2001, Cerro was Spain’s ambassador to Ecuador. In 2008, he was promoted to the rank of First Class Plenipotentiary Ambassador, at the proposal of the then Minister of Foreign Affairs, Miguel \u00c1ngel Moratinos, and between 2008 and 2010 he served as Consul General in Argentina.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
