{"id":106544,"date":"2025-01-24T06:03:13","date_gmt":"2025-01-24T05:03:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thediplomatinspain.com\/?p=106544"},"modified":"2025-01-23T18:32:19","modified_gmt":"2025-01-23T17:32:19","slug":"andrew-puzder-appointed-us-ambassador-to-the-european-union","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thediplomatinspain.com\/en\/2025\/01\/24\/andrew-puzder-appointed-us-ambassador-to-the-european-union\/","title":{"rendered":"Andrew Puzder appointed US ambassador to the European Union"},"content":{"rendered":"<h6><strong>Julio Garc\u00eda<\/strong><\/h6>\n<p><strong>The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has named the American businessman and lawyer Andrew Puzder as the new ambassador to the European Union, where he believes that \u201che will do an excellent job representing American interests\u201d in \u201cthis important region\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the announcement, according to Europa Press, Trump said that \u201cAndy is a successful lawyer, businessman, economic commentator and author\u201d, who in 2000 was named CEO of \u2018CKE Restaurants\u2019, the parent company of the international restaurant chains Carl\u2019s Jr and Hardee\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring his 17 years as CEO, Andy led the company out of serious financial difficulties, allowing it to survive, achieve financial security and grow,\u201d he said through his profile on the social network Truth Social.<\/p>\n<p>Puzder raised money for Trump\u2019s presidential campaign in 2016 and became an economic advisor to the company. He also served as a delegate to the Republican National Convention that year, and after the election, Trump nominated him as Secretary of Labor, but he withdrew his nomination due to lack of support.<\/p>\n<p>The government ethics office did not finish its review on time on how he could avoid ethical conflicts, while the opposition accused him of mistreating his workers, opposing the minimum wage and supporting the automation of the workplace.<\/p>\n<p>Minutes later, Trump named Sean Curran, the bodyguard who protected him during the attack in Pennsylvania, as the new director of the United States Secret Service. &#8220;It is a great honor,&#8221; he said, highlighting that &#8220;he is a great patriot who has protected&#8221; his family in recent years.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That is why I trust him to lead the brave men and women of the Secret Service,&#8221; he said. He also stressed that he has 23 years of experience in the sector, after beginning his career in 2001 as a special agent in the Newark office.<\/p>\n<p>However, he considered him to be &#8220;a brilliant leader, capable of directing and leading operational security plans for some of the most complex special security events in the history&#8221; of the country and the world. &#8220;He demonstrated his fearless bravery when he risked his own life to help save mine from an assassin&#8217;s bullet in Butler, Pennsylvania,&#8221; he
