Josep Borrell, former High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, was proposed this Friday by the Board of Trustees of CIDOB as the new president of the institution.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The appointment aims to “strengthen the international positioning of this reference centre in the study of international relations.”<\/p>\n

This was announced by the think tank, announcing that Borrell will assume the presidency of CIDOB once the mandate of historian Antoni Segura has concluded. The inauguration will take place after the completion of the corresponding administrative procedures.<\/p>\n

In its statement, the Board of Trustees expressed its gratitude to Segura for “his commitment and dedication during the eight years in which he has presided over the institution.”<\/p>\n

With this appointment, CIDOB reinforces its objective of consolidating its role in the international arena, especially after the agreement reached between the institutions of the Board of Trustees to begin a new stage of growth.<\/p>\n

In addition, the CIDOB Board of Trustees has undergone a partial renewal, with the incorporation of new individual trustees, who will replace the five trustees whose mandate has ended \u2014along with President Segura\u2014: Roger Albinyana, Dolors Folch, Albert Roca, Felip Roca and Llu\u00eds Torner.<\/p>\n

The new members of the Board of Trustees, who will join at the next ordinary meeting scheduled for June 2025, are Esther Barb\u00e9, professor of International Relations at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and senior associate researcher at IBEI; Josep Maria Carbonell, president of the Blanquerna-URL Foundation; and Pau Solanilla, public sector partner at Harmon and director of the Rafael Campalans Foundation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
