{"id":100587,"date":"2024-11-14T06:00:13","date_gmt":"2024-11-14T05:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thediplomatinspain.com\/?p=100587"},"modified":"2024-11-13T20:01:50","modified_gmt":"2024-11-13T19:01:50","slug":"the-embassy-of-portugal-presents-the-madrid-of-almada-negreiros","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thediplomatinspain.com\/en\/2024\/11\/14\/the-embassy-of-portugal-presents-the-madrid-of-almada-negreiros\/","title":{"rendered":"The Embassy of Portugal presents the Madrid of Almada Negreiros"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On 23 and 30 November and 14 December, between 11 am and 1 pm, you can follow the history of <strong>Almada Negreiros<\/strong> through the Spanish capital with free guided tours organized by the <strong>Embassy of Portugal.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>These meetings will begin at the <strong>Museo Reina Sof\u00eda,<\/strong> which until 6 January hosts the invited work <strong><em>Autorretrato en grupo<\/em><\/strong> (in photo\u00a9 Carlos Fernando Esteves Azevedo \/ CAM &#8211; Centro de Arte Moderna Gulbenkian, Lisbon), by the Portuguese modernist.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Almada Negreiros&#8217; visit to Madrid was a prolific period in her career. The Portuguese artist was an active participant in the Spanish avant-garde scene of the late 1920s and early 1930s, attending the gatherings of the main places of the time, such as the Granja el Henar caf\u00e9 or the Pombo caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>His intense artistic production resulted in the creation of works that still fill the imagination of the city today: the murals for the student residence Fundaci\u00f3n Del Amo, in the university town; the panels for the Teatro Mu\u00f1oz Seca or the Cine Barcel\u00f3 e, The Cinema San Carlos, which was later moved to Lisbon.
