Author: David Rivelles.

Ireland’s Ambassador, David Cooney, presented, on 19 January, the book En los Confines de Hibernia, by David Rivelles. When on 21 July 1588 the great shipping project of Philipp II sailed off from A Coruña to invade England with a fleet of 130 ships and 30,000 men, the Invincible Army started its nautical day towards the legend. But, where did it find the anvil where it shaped its fatal destiny? In the beautiful and fertile western coast of Ireland. A total of 24 ships wrecked and 6,000 men lost their lives in its coasts.

Nowadays, four centuries after that maritime and human tragedy, the mythic halo of the Invincible is still alive in the Emerald Island, engraved in its toponymy: from the Basaltic rocks of the Giant’s Causeway, in Ulster, to the peninsula of Dingle, in the southern Kerry. This book is about discovering the landscapes, characters and stories that shaped this legend, a journey filled with adventures, emotion and memories.
