Last Monday, the Dominican Week Foundation, with the support of the Embassy of the Dominican Republic, the Chamber of Commerce of Spain in the Dominican Republic and the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Mipymes, inaugurated the first edition of the Dominican Week in Spain (SEDE), in an activity that took place at the Minerva Room of the Meliá Fénix.
The Dominican delegation was headed by the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Mipymes, Víctor Bisonó; the Ambassador of the Dominican Republic, Juan Bolívar Díaz; the president of SEDE, Manuel García Troncoso; and the President of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in the Dominican Republic, Francisco José Pérez Menéndez.
The Dominican ambassador highlighted in his speech “the historical links and the level of cultural and commercial exchange between the Dominican Republic and Spain. This is a major event which aims to promote bilateral relations and business exchanges between the two countries”.
The SEDE president, Manuel García Troncoso, explained that “there are now more opportunities than ever to invest in the Dominican Republic safely, and not only in tourism but also in other fields such as universities, hospitals, supermarkets or infrastructure -water, energy, waste management, transport, health, training, restoration, among others, that can withstand the significant growth of the country”.
On his side, the minister of Industry, Trade and MISMEs, Victor Bisonó, stated that his ministry is very committed to strengthening trade ties and promoting opportunities in the Dominican Republic, and insisted on “the wealth of opportunities that the country offers for investment, especially in the free zone sector and manufacturing industry”. While the president of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in the Dominican Republic, Francisco José Pérez Menéndez, said that it is “a key opportunity to strengthen our trade and investment ties, and promote new business opportunities.”
The first Dominican week, which will run until tomorrow Thursday 7 November, presents an attractive program with the objective of promoting bilateral relations and diversifying trade and investment flows between the two countries.
